On January 29 – 30, 2010, Dr Betz attended the 35th annual USC Periodontal & Implant Symposium at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. There were prominent researchers from all over the world who presented clinical and research finds which Dr Betz can incorporate into our practice for the benefit of our patients. One such presentation provided additional proof as to the effectiveness of the soft-tissue laser therapy for periodontal disease. It was reassuring to see additional scientific verification of what we have seen in our own office over the last 4 years since we incorporated the soft tissue laser into our armentarium. On the implant side, continuing research confirms that implants have a 95-98% success rate. New developments are the use of bone grafting to augment ridges that have been too narrow or shallow to sustain implants.
